Cripes!
it has been forever since I hopped on here and did an update or posted up something new. It is insane how time slips by when you are busy. First I want to say thanks to Ryan Ottley for sending people my way. I had a blast working with Ryan way back when, before he went on to bigger and better things. I have been a huge fan of his work since we worked together on RUnes of Ragnan, and it has been great to see his work get the praise it deserves. I also wish I could answer each message personally, but I simply do not have the time at the moment. Next time I won't get so far behind, and I'll be able to take the time to respond to each message I get.
Well things have been... um .. pretty shitty. More bad news from the doctors. It just seems the bad news never ends. At my last appointment i was told that there is nothing else they can do for me. They have tried several different chemo treatments, with out any luck. My doc said that he wants to give radiation another try, but he wasn't sure if I was able to receive anymore, due to the fact I took such a large dose the first time around. Radiation sucks, but if it is what I have to do I guess I'll let them juice me. I guess all I can do is keep on keeping on.
I am going to upload some recent work. I have been working on Image/ Frazetta comics "Sorcerer". I haven't got a chance to show any of it so i figured I'd post some up. The art I am posted up is a One of the covers, and a few pages from the book. I am handling the penciling chores on the book. t is being inked by Andrew Mangum. The images I am posting up were inked by me however. Andrew is doing an amazing job. I inked these images due to the fact they needed to be inked up by a certain date so we could make the deadline for an ad that was being placed in previews. There was a problem with shipping the pages and this whole....... ungh.... anyway I inked these up, but Andrew is rocking on the rest of the book.
This leads me into a question I want to ask you guys. Ever since I started drawing comics, i have run into issue with some inkers i have worked with. i would spend hours on a page, busting my arse to make it look as good as possible. The I would send it to the inker, anxious to see it when it was finished. I would then go out and pick up an issue of the book, only to see that my pencils were butchered. Now I think I have this complex where I have to pencil the shit out of a page before I can send it off. i mean I pencils line weights, ins and outs, and everything. This is really causing me to take a lot ore time on a page than I used to. I used to knock out around 3 pages a day. Now I am struggling to get one done. Have you guys ever run into this? Not just us pencilers, but Have you inkers run into this with a colorist maybe? Now the million dollar question, How do I get out of this funk? I trust my current inker completely, but I still find myself spending way to much time on a page.
any way Thanks for checking out this journal entry. I have seen a ton of great art on here, and i wish I could comment on it all. Keep drawing!
